Frozen and thawed embryos

Transfer of frozen and then thawed embryos.

If the woman in a preceding fresh cycle has had super numerous embryos qualifying for freezing, this has been done. If she was not pregnant or she is coming back for the second child, these frozen embryos can be used.

In this cycle the woman either go for the spontaneous cycle i.e. no hormones at all but only monitoring the ovulation. 4 days after the ovulation the thawed embryos are placed back in the woman’s uterus. In some cases we use a supplemented cycle with estradiol tablets, but also here a very simple and patient friendly treatment. According to Danish law frozen eggs have to be destroyed after five years.

• We only thaw frozen eggs if you have given your consent in writing.
• Approx. 70% of the frozen eggs will survive the thawing.
